The Ohio K-12 Social and Emotional Learning Standards seek to develop the “whole child” by helping students build self-awareness, social awareness, self-management, and relationship and responsible decision-making skills. The skills associated with social-emotional learning provide the foundation for effective communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, resiliency, perseverance and teamwork — all of which are necessary for individuals to be successful in a technical or career field and post-secondary work.
